The colour of Derwentwater moves according to weather and the time of day. You have to stay there a long time to feel its beating heart and see its mood changing. On this particular day out of nowhere a sudden storm descended from the East sweeping low over Blencathra shooting its orange and vermillion tones along the ridge line and then across the Lake.
