The Great Langdale valley is some 12,170 acres in total, much of it in the care of the National Trust, who have ten farms here. Despite being jostled daily by a never ending stream of admireres from across the world the Langdale Valley farms retain their ancient nature. The valley and its fells are almost central to the entire Lake District. For me the best views are fittingly those gained in climbing up the steep valley sides through fields then rough pasture to open fell. From here is a splendid view in all directions of hard won fells and orderly valley fields. The outline of popular climbers crags, the ruggedness of the slopes all create a feeling of beauty and achievment. This is the first of my Lake District Valleys A2 set which I hope people will like to collect. They are of course available to order as individual pieces. Next in line will be Eagle Crag A2 and Haystacks.
