How quickly can a pleasant place seem arctic. The wind always blows cold up on the Heights above Withnell and Brinscall. Overnight the wet fields became ice rinks making walking treacherous. Yet below on the Lancashire plain warmth and colour are still in evidence. A most wonderful place to stop and paint outdoors.
